My samaya, or sacred promise, that I made while in the death bardo was that I would do what I can to help others awaken. This is closely related to a gentle request that Namkhai Norbu made of me when I first met him. He asked that I teach people, which meant that I would do what I could to help people awaken. He asked that I consider starting with a small number of people, then accept what happens as things move forward from there.
On this seventh anniversary of his passing, I make the commitment to give everything that I have in order to help people awaken. May I see many people make the firm aspiration to awaken, as well as awaken, before I enter the death bardo once more. May my efforts bear fruit.
