In order to prepare for the death bardo, as well as awakening itself, we must find any means necessary to do so. Awakening, as well as a very rewarding transmigration through the death bardo, requires us to prepare. Find teachings and teachers wherever you can. Question everything. Learn to open your heart and mind to what is, as it is.
