Seeing the illusory nature of cyclic existence is essential, if we wish to awaken. If we think that all of this is real, then there would be no way to generate Bodhicitta. If we think that it is real, little by little our compassion dissipates. As you prepare for death, look at mind, look at phenomena and see that there is no way to truly prove that any of this is real.
Keep practicing and awaken.
